AI coding tools are good at getting a prototype on screen quickly. They are less good at what comes after: authentication that holds up, payments that handle failures, a database that survives real data, and code another person can maintain. We have spent years taking over systems built by other people, including a WordPress site rebuilt around a single page builder on ProHunt, and a slow Ruby on Rails marketplace moved to Laravel and Vue with its database intact. Taking over code we did not write is familiar work. The first job is an honest review: what can stay, what must change, and what should be rebuilt.
