3DE Social is a Web3-based decentralized social media platform that combines blockchain technology, 3D content creation, NFTs, and social networking into a single ecosystem. The platform enables users to create interactive 3D content, convert it into digital assets, and publish it on the DeSo (Decentralized Social) blockchain, giving creators complete ownership of their digital content.
Users authenticate using their DeSo blockchain accounts, eliminating the need for traditional username and password login. Once signed in, creators can upload 3D models, capture images from multiple viewing angles, generate animated GIFs and videos from 3D objects, and mint their creations as NFTs directly on the DeSo blockchain, bridging traditional social media and blockchain technology into a single, seamless workflow.

The Issue At Hand
Existing social media platforms give creators limited ownership over their digital content, with little control over how their work is stored, shared, or monetized. Turning a 3D model into a published NFT typically required stitching together multiple third-party tools for rendering, image generation, animation, minting, and blockchain publishing, a fragmented workflow that slowed creators down.
3DE Social was built to collapse that entire pipeline into a single platform. By pairing DeSo's decentralized identity and publishing with browser-based 3D rendering, creators can go from an uploaded 3D model to a minted, published NFT without ever leaving the site.
Blockchain-based authentication had to replace traditional username and password login entirely, using a user's DeSo identity as the sole means of signing in.
An interactive 3D viewer needed to let users rotate uploaded objects and capture images from multiple viewing angles directly in the browser.
Automatic image, GIF, and video generation from uploaded 3D objects had to run client-side, turning a single model into a full set of promotional media without extra software.
NFT minting needed to be integrated directly with the DeSo blockchain, so a finished 3D asset could be minted and published without a separate marketplace step.
Publishing had to connect straight into the DeSo decentralized social network, letting creators share new NFTs and posts to their existing community in one action.
Decentralized storage and ownership verification were required for every uploaded asset, so creators could prove ownership independent of the platform itself.
Large 3D file uploads and in-browser rendering needed real performance optimization to stay usable on typical creator hardware.
The interface had to remain fully responsive across desktop and mobile, since 3D creators and NFT collectors browse from both.
The architecture had to be scalable enough to support future Web3 features and decentralized content management without a rebuild.

Phase 1 — Discover
Research confirmed that existing NFT workflows relied on multiple disconnected tools for rendering, minting, and publishing, and that the DeSo blockchain could simplify authentication and publishing into a single decentralized identity, directly shaping the platform's architecture.
Key Activities
Ownership Gap Analysis
Found that existing social platforms give creators limited ownership over their content, with little control over storage, sharing, or monetization. This gap in creator ownership became the core problem 3DE Social was built to solve.
Fragmented NFT Workflow
Identified that turning 3D content into NFTs typically required multiple third-party tools for rendering, image generation, animation, minting, and blockchain publishing. Consolidating this fragmented workflow into one platform became a primary design goal.
DeSo Blockchain Research
Research into the DeSo blockchain showed that decentralized identities and blockchain-based publishing could simplify authentication while letting users publish directly to the blockchain without a centralized platform in between.
WebGL Feasibility
Investigation into WebGL and browser-based 3D rendering confirmed that users could interact with 3D models, capture images from multiple angles, and generate GIFs and videos directly in the browser, without a separate desktop tool.

Configurable resale royalties paid to coin holders or split with partners, handled entirely by the blockchain.

Decentralized Storage
Uploads 3D models to the Arweave permaweb, so customers can download and reuse them in any 3D environment.

Automatic Media Generation
Generates images, animated GIFs, and promotional videos automatically from an uploaded 3D model.
